Reviving Fond Memories at Modi Xerox

Last Saturday we had a wonderful get together at Mumbai, of 60 or 70 odd ex Xerox colleagues from the Customer Service team. Surendran, the coordinator in chief for this initiative calls them “The Old Xerox Gang “!!! It was a heart warming event and I’m so very glad I could be in Mumbai to be with these erstwhile team members.

It was wonderful to reconnect with several of my immediate family group, KG Pillai, Ram and Farooqui besides Sandeep Mathur, the Head of Customer Support when I first joined Xerox. There were colleagues at all levels that one had associated with very closely in the past and who brought back fond memories of working together on critical assignments and projects. Age and time had made some of the names and faces a bit hazy , however as we reconnected, the haze lifted .I did test myself by listing as many names as I could of the team that had assembled that day ,as I was flying back to Delhi and I did fairly well, I should think .

KG ,Ram & Farooqui formed part of the pool of Regional Mangers and were a vital conduit for executing plans and programmes .Like wise the Region Service Operations Managers ,the RSOMs as we called them ,were equally vital to programme implementation and team building .Surendran ,Milind ,Nitin Jagtap , Ravi Kartha, Nandu More , Vijay Sehdev, and Aditya Chile formed part of this pool. It was great re-connecting with these stalwarts who so selflessly worked to make programme implementation happen.

The OSA fraternity was well represented by Ravi Dhale, Rajesh Karkanis , Umesh Dueskar, PM Rao ,Ramki, Vijay Sehdev, and Aditya Padhke . I always experience a heightened sense of emotions ,when I meet the OSAs and always wish them well .I was happy to see that most of them had been doing well and had established themselves as good entrepreneurs. I was particularly happy to see the progress Ramki and Vijay had made in building retail operations for Canon and Airtel respectively.

High flyers from the SMWG teams included Harry Saldhana, Sameer Kale, Jude Lobo, Murgandam, Sandeep Kumar ,Praveen Raj and others. It was so good to hear speaker after speaker on that occasion attributing their success to the training they received in the SWMG Programme. This is an aspect of the SMWG Programme that I subscribe too as well .I kept recollecting The SMWG Conventions and the great enthusiasm and competitiveness all the teams displayed. So also I recollect quite vividly the SMWG meetings and reviews .

Ever function was represented by stalwarts .The Logistics team had Ail Kumar , RK Pania and PC Pothen .The Tech Support team had Murgandam , Mitesh Dave , Sanjay Prabhu and Prakash Diwanji among others. And who can forget the real old times of the team Ashish Bhosale and Ramesh Wagela and representatives from sales in Suman Nambiar and Tushar Jagtap .

There were many more in the 60+ attendees .Tough to mention each and every one of them but they all ,one way or the other, have a special place in ones heart. It was a very special and touching moment when each participant recollected the high points of his stint in Xerox and their memorable moments .Such was the out pouring from each member that we eventually had to curtail the time available to the later speakers ,so that we could get on with lunch, and those of us who had to catch return flights could make it on time .I barely reached the airport on time and caught my flight back home .

Hopefully we will have many more such nostalgic events and a revival of these meets in Delhi.
